enlarge Zoom Speedo Men Surfwalker Pro All Purpose Water Shoe

Sunday, June 27th, 2010

I’ve been wearing these water shoes as “house slippers” for the past 10 years. Sure, they eventually wear out, but I have found that they are a great, inexpensive, all-purpose, all-weather, indoor/outdoor shoe suitable for year-round wear in a damp climate. I haven’t noticed the odor/poor durability issues mentioned by other reviewers, but remember: these are designed as water shoes for beach wear. Anything more that you get from them should be considered a bonus. I’ve been getting my bonus for 10 years, based on daily wear – and especially yard work in sometimes wet and soggy, coastal Georgia. I go through 2 or 3 pairs a year; however, in my opinion – for the amount of wear that I DO get out of them – they are well worth the money.

Cuisinart EM-200 Programmable 15-Bar Espresso Maker – Stainless Steel

Saturday, June 26th, 2010

If you choose to use ground espresso instead of pods, tamping the coffee is a very important part of the coffee-making process. Use the scoop supplied to fill the filter basket, then using the tamping tool, tamp down the grounds with moderate pressure. Add more coffee and tamp again if necessary to bring coffee to level. Do not overfill the filter basket. The ground coffee should be tamped with moderate pressure. If the coffee is not tamped securely, there is a chance the water will flow through the coffee to rapidly and the coffee will be under-extracted. Note: if the coffee is tamped too firmly, the water will flow through the coffee too slowly and the coffee will be over-extracted.

3D Dot Game Heroes

The graphics are very good, obviously not God of War III quality, however they are extremely charming, I might even say “cute”. All of the environments and character models are built out of little cubes, think LEGOs, but 1×1 size blocks. I was surprised how much detail can be created using simple blocks. There obviously aren’t any fine details, however if you’ve ever played Nintendo or Sega Master System games you will appreciate the graphics. Throughout the world are bodies of water and what appears to be lava, but it’s swirling and not made out of cubes. It’s a blend between 8-bit graphics and sort of hokey special effects, I love it!

BenQ W6000 1080p DLP Projector

Saturday, June 26th, 2010

I’ve been using a front projection setup for several years now, starting with a serendipitous purchase of an NEC LT150 that was a “price mistake” find. After getting it and figuring out how to mount it, put up a screen and run cables in the ceiling with a friend’s help, I’ve been hooked on the true theater type experience that a projector provides. It was a dim, loud, business class projector but still a thrill to have a 100″ picture. I upgraded over the years to a brighter NEC business projector, then finally entered real home theater projector land with a 1080p Optoma HD80. At the time, the HD80 was one of the best bang for the buck projectors ever made, and I enjoyed the heck out of it. One of the things that bugged me with the NEC business projectors was the dreaded DLP “rainbow effect”, and with the HD80 that was minimized enough that it never really bothered me.

VIZIO M220VA 22-inch Full HD 1080p LED LCD HDTV

This TV is stunning!!! For under $300, you will not find any better! The sound is weak, but there is a cheap and easy fix. Buy some computer speakers and plug them into the headphone jack on the side of the unit. I use a 3 piece Logitech set w/ a sub that sounds great! They cost about $50. I use this TV to play xbox on when the main TV is in use. We have a 40′ Sony w/ 120mhz refresh rate (paid $1800 for!!!) and the Vizio looks just as good! I promise you will not be disappointed with this TV!!!!
