Cisco-Linksys E2000 Advanced Wireless-N Router

Tuesday, June 29th, 2010

Our old D-Link 624 was starting to need rebooting weekly so it was time to upgrade. The router now is located in the master bedroom, so cosmetic appeal or should I say low visual impact was desired. This unit is very sleek and if it didn’t have lights, would be almost unnoticeable.

After dealing with wireless routers since they came out the Cisco software makes it “Apple” easy. Our IS provider is Comcast and rebooting of the modem was required. The E2000 came with a SSID name that was good enough to keep (not Linksys or Cisco) and WPA / WPA2 security already on. After setup, it was time to connect all the wireless devices (4 – iPhones, 2 – lap tops, Xbox 360)which went flawless. Left it at the default 2.4mhz and no conflicts with any other devices in the house. The wireless range is a bit better then the prior Dlink and gives us good to excellent signal strength thru 3 – 4 walls. I don’t believe any of our devices can take true advantage of the N but we’ll be ready for it.

Imusa Espresso – Cappuccino Maker

Tuesday, June 29th, 2010

Okay, so the coffee experts will say that a machine like this is not an actual espresso machine and they are probably right…however, I wanted a small, inexpensive machine to make an extremely strong “latte.” I don’t care if it’s heated to the precise degree to make a coffee connoisseur happy, but I am picky about my lattes, coming from the Seattle area ;) So with that in mind, this is a great, inexpensive machine that you can make yourself a very strong “latte” with, quickly. I’ve had it approx. a month and it all works very well and I’ve used several and been a professional barista. FYI for the people who are wondering about steaming milk…you do place the wand down into the milk to heat it and then place the wand into the top of the milk to froth it until you have as much foam as you want. I don’t like the rubber thing so I took it off. I’ve never used a machine with that rubber thing before and it cleans easier without it.

EA Sports Active – More Workouts

Monday, June 28th, 2010

Thank you EA Active for finally giving me what I have been looking for: Step Aerobics!! The game comes with 3 pre-set workouts for a step aerobic routine (not just 2 or 3 mins in between other exercises but straight step aerobics). They come slow, medium and fast. I just completed the slow and burned 310 calories (I am 5’8″ woman and 230 lbs). Granted its the same 10 min routine, three times but sooooo much better than any other fitness game out there (and I have them all!). I am hoping for Your Shape to maybe even improve on the step aerobics?!

TomTom GPS Dashboard Mount for TomTom GPS Navigators

Monday, June 28th, 2010

We have 2 TomTom XL340S-Lives, and it was sought of a pain to mount it on the windshield, with that long stretch to get to it. I purchased one of these mounts, to give it a try. It works fantastic easy to use, and much easier to make TomTom changes if needed. Being this works so well, I then purchased a 2nd one for the wife’s car. I see some reviews that the owners are having difficulties with this, and really cannot understand it, unless the suction cup part on the unit is not totally turned to its locked position.
As far as my two, we have no issues and glad we purchased them.

Kingston 16 GB Class 4 SDHC Flash Memory Card

Monday, June 28th, 2010

If you need a solid, non-flashy card for your digital camera, you can’t go wrong with Kingston. I’ve had them for 10 years in various devices and I’ve only had a problem caused by Kingston 16 GB Flash Memory Card itself. Kingston, to their credit and their amazing warranty, replaced it quickly. I couldn’t find a receipt for it, but they replaced it no problem. That’s great service.

The card is rated as a Class 4 card, so it can handle greater than writes of 4 Mb/s to Kingston 16 GB Flash Memory Card. For photography, it doesn’t matter unless you’re using a high-end digital SLR (writing large files is an annoyance.) If you plan on filming video, Kingston 16 GB Flash Memory Card should be fine for AVHCD lite (720p HD) but when in doubt, go for the faster (Class 6 or higher) SDHC cards. I have one of these cards for a Canon Powershot G10 shooting 15mb RAW files, and it works flawlessly.
