The Magellan 4700 was not only a terrific buy as Amazon’s Gold Box Deal of the Day; it is also an excellent GPS. Granted I have only had the GPS for a few days, but I have taken a couple of short trips and gave it a pretty thorough testing.
You will likely need to charge the unit before using. This can take a few hours. Remember, some vehicles require the car to be running before supplying power.
After charging the unit, make sure you download and update the firmware through Magellan’s website. If you read and follow the directions on the download page you will avoid any problems. I also found the online manual very helpful. It was worth downloading and printing.
