Wii Sports Resort

We have 10 grandchildren. I never played a video game in my life. I am an old retired doc who was ‘married” to medicine. I got a WII and now have 4 of all the different kinds of remotes and @6-7 games. I play it which for an old curmudgeon like me is something special. The best was last night when we had 4 little ones playing at once. My wife and I watched them and were so happy we almost cried. We have a 58 inch plasma TV and even though it is not HD we could give a hoot as everything is so cool. My advice is for all grandparents to get one of these and especially Wii Sports Resort and get prepared to have the best times.

Garmin nüvi 205W 4.3-Inch Widescreen Portable GPS Navigator

I recently purchased a Tom Tom 330 S and was extremly dissatisfied with it so I sent it back. I decied I really didn’t want to pay and extra $50 for spoken street names so this GPS had most of the features that the Tom Tom did for less money! It doesn’t have Mapshare, itinerary route planning, or spoken street names but so far I love it! The thing that sold me was that most of the points of interest were in the right place (which is more than what the Tom Tom had) and the volume, if prefered, could be turned up very loud which was also not true for the Tom Tom. I am definitly buying a Garmin next time and I would strongly recommend it to anyone. The only thing that bothered me just a little is that I had to buy the car charger separate as an accessory because it didn’t come in the box but it wasn’t a deal breaker. The total price was still less than the Tom Tom!

Apple MacBook Air MC233LL/A 13.3-Inch Laptop

The 1.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor is a lot better than the 1.2 and 1.4 that are available in the Dells; more than enough for my usage. This might have been a bit meek had I not already had an Intel Core 2 Quad Desktop computer at home. This also made HP ENVY pointless.

The screen is more than adequate and much better than a netbook. Since it’s so light, it really can go anywhere a netbook can. The nice Keyboard and trackpad was also refreshing.

I have owned the Wave Creation line of shoes beginning with the Wave Creation 5′s. This current version is as good or better than the previous models. This line has seen me through hundreds of miles, including many 10K’s and a marathon with no running injuries. It’s great for larger runners with a neutral gate – and that is what it’s designed for. Of course, everyone’s foot is different and some people will find that a different shoe fits them better. This one works for me. I am six feet tall and 200 lbs. These shoes run about a half size larger than street shoes.

Weber 4521001 Spirit E-310 Natural Gas Grill

This grill, while pricey, is very likely the best free-standing 3-burner grill I’ve ever used (for its size). I chose the natural gas version because I have a stub-out in my back patio that allows me to grill without the inconvenience of picking up and refilling propane tanks. I’ve actually used quite a few natural gas grills and this is the only one that’s actually managed to heat rapidly and hold a temperature with any real success. The first time I used this grill, it achieved 550 degrees (f) in just under 10 minutes with all 3 burners on high. For those who know, temperatures north of 500 degrees (f) are REQUIRED for searing steaks properly. I also appreciate the side-mounted controls as they help keep the grill’s depth to a minimum (a MUST in my small back patio). I also REALLY like the new stainless steel design for 2009.

AeroBed Extreme Ultra Light Self-Inflating Camp Mat

AeroBed makes a wonderful beach mat. We use it regularly in Florida in winter: it is great because it keeps us from sitting or lying on the cold sand. Best of all, it does not attract sand and can be easily shaken clean.

As a beach or camp mat, it needs to be about 3 or 4 inches wider. Arms and legs tend to flop over the edges. The carrying case also needs to have a larger diameter. It is a chore to roll the mat up tighly enough to fit!

In all, this is a high quality, durable product. We love it.

Hamilton Beach 40729 Espresso-Cappuccino Maker with Pod Holder

The machine itself has some issues to be aware of. It comes with a scoop/tamper that is adequate, but no vessels for milk or espresso. Those will have to be purchased elsewhere or, in my case, improvised with short tumbler and mug. The steaming wand sits low, meaning it is difficult to swing the milk vessel under it without spilling. I had to position Hamilton Beach 40729 Espresso-Cappuccino Maker on the edge of the table so that the milk vessel can be held lower than the table surface. Because Hamilton Beach 40729 Espresso-Cappuccino Maker is lightweight, it uses suction cups on the feet to hold it steady when securing the espresso grounds– this has worked just fine for me. The machine will not function if the water reservoir is not completely locked into place.
